Ramadan Date Out

Sheikh Abdul Mumin Haroun, the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam and Eugene Boakye Antwi, the Subin MP, talking to the media

The Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Abdul Mumin Haroun, says this year’s Ramadan fasting is likely to start on Tuesday.

“It is likely that this year’s annual Ramadan fasting by Muslims which is a key pillar in Islam will start across the country on Tuesday.

He made the announcement when the Member of Parliament (MP) for Subin, Eugene Boakye Antwi, donated food items to Muslims at the Kumasi Central Mosque.

“We are monitoring the signs, and so far it is likely that the important religious exercise by Muslims may commence this coming Tuesday.

“The date for the start of the Ramadan fasting can change but for now Tuesday looks probable,” the Chief Imam said.

Speaking in an interview with DAILY GUIDE, the Islam cleric said that Muslims should use Ramadan to intercede for the country.

Sheikh Abdul Mumin said the bags of rice and sugar donated by the lawmaker would be distributed to Muslims in the city during Ramadan.

Ramadan is an important activity in Islam during which Muslims across the globe stay away from food and others to seek the face of Allah for 30 days.

During that holy period, Muslims dedicate their time to fervently pray to Allah to bless them.

Any Muslim that fully participates in the annual exercise would receive blessings from Allah.
