RENOVATION WORKS on the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi has been completed, and the facility is currently on test to check its readiness for public use.
As part of the testing process, the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has held series of their recent meetings at the place to see if it is ready.
Just last week, Wednesday, December 30, 2020, the KMA held its 3rd Ordinary Meeting of 2020 there, where the Kumasi Mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi, gave his final report.
Mr. Assibey, in his address, announced that the renovation works of the Prempeh Assembly Hall, a brainchild of the KMA, had been completed already.
According to him, the assembly wanted to make sure that the renovation works went on as planned, therefore, they were currently putting the facility on test to check.
“The renovation of the Prempeh Assembly Hall has been completed and meetings have been held there to test-run the facility,” he informed the assembly members.
He explained that the test-run at the now plush-looking Prempeh Assembly Hall was mainly to “ensure that all the electrical and air conditioning installations are in order.”
According to the Kumasi Mayor, the Covid-19, which has restricted travelling, delayed the fixing of public address system in the hall.
“The only outstanding item to be supplied by M/S Consar Ltd is the installation of the public address system.
“The installation of the public address system has delayed due to the restrictions on travelling as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic,” the KMA boss added.
He, however, gave a firm assurance that “the public address system is expected to be delivered by the end of February 2021.”
Significantly, the assembly meeting offered Mr. Assibey, who is set to leave office after the expiration of his tenure, the chance to render accounts for his stewardship.
