REPUBLIC BANK Ghana, a subsidiary of Republic Financial Holdings Limited (RFHL), has donated two ventilators and ECG monitors to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital in Accra.
The equipment valued at GH¢240,000 forms part of the Bank’s GH¢1.1 million contribution towards the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic in Ghana.
Board Chairman of Republic Bank (Ghana) Limited, Charles William Zwennes, together with the managing director, Farid Antar, made the presentation on behalf of the bank to the Regional Director of Health Service for the Greater Accra Region, Dr Charity Sarpong.
The gesture is expected to assist the hospital in providing patients with effective healthcare in the fight against the virus.
“This is to play our part in the fight against Covid-19, specifically to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital. We are donating GH¢240,000 to aid with the procurement of ventilators and ECG monitors,” Mr. Zwennes stated.
In his statement, Mr Antar stated that “Republic Bank sees itself as part of the economy and wherever we can, the Bank through our parent company, RFHL, will play an active role to support the infrastructure that is leading to the fight against the Covid-19 especially the most critical cases.”
Dr Sarpong thanked the Republic Bank for the donation made to the hospital and indicated that the machines would be put to good use. She further emphasized the need for Ghanaians to strictly adhere to all safety measures as specified by the government and the health sector.
