Abdul-Samed Gunu presenting some dual desks to a beneficiary school in Savelugu
Member of Parliament (MP) for Savelugu in Northern Region, Abdul-Samed Gunu, has donated 300 dual desks to some selected schools in the constituency to address furniture deficits.
The vast majority of schools in the Savelugu Municipality are faced with massive furniture deficits, compelling students to sit on the floor during class sessions.
The MP also donated 7,000 exercise books and over 2,000 teaching and learning materials to ten (10) schools in the municipality.
As a means of improving educational standard in the Savelugu Municipality, the MP has introduced an educational fund to provide financial support to students and also supply schools in the catchment area with teaching and learning materials.
The MP has disbursed GH¢20,000 to some brilliant, needy students who have been offered admission to the various tertiary institutions.
Speaking to DAILY GUIDE, the MP said: “This is the first batch of furniture to be supplied in my efforts to bridge the furniture deficit in the constituency and enhance education in the area”.
According to him, the donations are in response to the concerns raised when he embarked on an educational tour in the Savelugu constituency two months ago.
He hinted that the donation would be extended to the Diary Zone and similar donations would be made to some needy schools in the area.
