The family of renowned Nigerian gospel singer, Aduke Ajayi widely known as Aduke Gold, has officially confirmed that she passed away due to cervical cancer.
Aduke Gold died on August 12, 2024 at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, a loss that has left her fans and the gospel music community in deep mourning.
Following her sudden death, rumours circulated on social media, with some reports claiming that the singer had died during a fibroid surgery.
However, in response to these speculations, Aduke Gold’s brother, Pastor Ajayi Aderogbo, released a statement refuting the false reports.
In a video that has since gone viral, Pastor Aderogbo clarified that Aduke Gold’s death was the result of a battle with cervical cancer, as indicated on her death certificate. He urged the public to be cautious and to verify facts before spreading misinformation.
“Whoever is saying what is not should stop it,” Pastor Aderogbo stated. “Our daughter was ill, she had cervical cancer, she was taken to UCH in Ibadan and unfortunately, she died. The information spreading around is false.”
Aduke Gold’s death has sent shockwaves through the gospel music scene, with fans and colleagues expressing their sorrow and paying tribute to her legacy.
