South Africa has been placed under coronavirus alert level four.
President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the new level on Sunday, June 27, 2021.
Alert level four is just one level below a full lockdown.
South Africa will be under the alert level four for two weeks to fight an increase in coronavirus cases.
South Africa “is facing a massive resurgence of infection, our health facilities are stretched to the limit… ICU beds are in short supply,” Mr Ramaphosa said in a televised address.
