Steve Pollack
COACH STEVE Pollack has rendered unqualified apologies to Kotoko management for fielding a ‘strange’ player against Hearts.
The player under contention is Kwadwo Addai, who is virtually not known to the Kotoko family, especially the Dr. Kwame Kyei’s management.
The expatriate coach, surprisingly, fielded the virtually unknown player in a tough second leg of the President’s Cup match against Hearts in Kumasi.
The game eventually ended in stalemate but the talking point about the contest was how an unknown Kwadwo Addai’s name appeared in the Kotoko team.
“The management of Kotoko doesn’t know Kwadwo Addai from anywhere so were surprise to see him wearing our jersey and playing against Hearts.
“His inclusion in the Kotoko team was a solitary decision, taken by Coach Steve Polack, Kotoko Lawyer, Mr. Yaw Boafo said on Nhyira FM in Kumasi.
Speaking on the same network, Coach Pollack admitted that indeed he fielded Kwadwo Addai against Hearts without the consent of management.
“I have apologized to management for that mishap and I have promised that such a thing would not be repeated again whilst I coach Kotoko.
“It was just an oversight, I always inform Kotoko management about new players that I want to use in my team but with this one, I erred and I apologize.”
Steve Polack said Kwadwo Addai was among the players that he was monitoring at the Kotoko training “and I decided to test him with the Hearts match”.
He explained that there were injuries in the Kotoko camp ahead of the Hearts game so he decided to give Kwadwo Addai the chance to prove his merit.
