An Accra circuit court has remanded into custody one Justice Meyers for allegedly stabbing a cold store attendant when he (attendant) held him (Meyers) to produce a stolen phone.
Meyers, charged with robbery, pleaded not guilty and is to reappear on in court on January 2, 2018.
The court, presided over by Abena Oppong Adjin Doku, was informed by the prosecution, led by Superintendent Patience Mario, that the complainant is one Kofi Boateng.
According to the prosecutor, the complainant resides at La but works at Agbogboloshie market in Accra. Meyers also resides at Old Fadama, Accra.
She said on December 17, this year, at about 0500 hours, the complainant visited the market to pack cartons of fish from a cold store in the market.
Due to poor visibility, the complainant switched on the torchlight of his Infinix Note Two mobile phone.
Superintendent Patience Mario said Meyers, who was wearing a ladies’ dress and had partly covered his face with mask, took the mobile phone valued at GH¢550.
“A witness raised an alarm and the complainant held Meyers to enable him retrieve his phone. The accused, who was armed with a knife, stabbed the complainant five times in the shoulder and behind his neck,” Superintendent Patience Mario told the court.
She said the complainant raised an alarm and with the help of two security guards at the market, Meyers was nabbed.
