TAGG Receives GH₵10m COVID-19 Support

GOVERNMENT HAS through the National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) paid GH₵10.071 million to 1548 members of the Trade Advocacy Group Ghana (TAGG) under the Coronavirus Alleviation Programme Business Support Scheme (CAPBUSS).

The members consisted of 641 applicant who were given grants not exceeding GH¢2,000, and 907 others who were provided with loans in excess of GH¢2,000 that were payable after a one-year period.

There was a total of 1840 TAGG members who had applied for support under the scheme designed by government to help MSMEs that were badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Data on disbursement made available by the NBSSI showed that some applications were at various stages of validation while others had been rejected.

For instance, three applications had been outrightly rejected for various reasons while 15 applications were pending as a result of wrong Tax Identification Number (TIN) or code.

There were 174 applicants pending payment of GH₵824,050 with 52 applications yet to be reviewed and five applications yet to be processed.

Five incomplete entries from applicants belonging to the group were captured as well as four failed names captured, and 37 applications at final approval stage while an application had been approved.
