Freddie Blay
National Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Freddie Blay is calling on the government appointees to support the party members and activities than seeing their positions as a chance to arrogantly distance themselves from the party base for self-serving interest.
According to him, “If your service to Ghana as an appointee does not equally enhance the image of the party and also help improve the lives of the party faithful, you have failed the party and weakened its foundations”.
Speaking at the National Delegates’ Conference held in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital on Sunday, Mr Blay tasked those political appointees who find themselves privileged to hold positions one way or by the virtue of being in government, to recognize that the opportunity granted should serve the interest of the party.
Mr. Blay also called on the Party members to be more resolute and determined to counteract the opponent and not mistakenly fall prey to the poisonous propaganda of the opposition when they resort to agitations and distortions.
He further urged the party members to be wise enough to learn from their previous mistakes, particularly by eschewing the actions and inactions that have in the past, characterized and led to bitter and rancorous campaigns.
He said “The upcoming internal elections should be a great
opportunity for the aspirants to protect the party’s
achievements. Our approach and narrative have to be
one that energizes our base and puts the party in good
shape for battle”.
“You must not take advantage of those who may be downcast and dissatisfied with how their expectations are not being met, to deepen the cracks and allow the virus of debate to eat our battle”.
Mr. Blay, however, pleads with the party members to forgive one another and reunite to secure victory for the party come 2024.
