THE TDC Development Company Limited, in collaboration with Sethi Reality, has cut sod for the commencement of the construction of a school to increase access to education in Kpone areas.
The eight unit classrooms with auxiliary facilities are expected to be completed within six months to provide free admission for residents.
The school will also have a church, mosque and a health facility to serve both the students and the community.
Performing the official sod cutting, Charanject Signh Sethi, Chairman of Sethi Group, explained that the construction of the school had become necessary because pupils in the community travel long distance just to study.
He said creating educational opportunities for children would help them to become responsible adults and lauded the flagship policy – Free Senior High School.
The chairman expressed gratitude to Ghanaians for the peace and stability in the country and said it serves as a boost for investment which translates into job creation and economic development.
He seized the opportunity to appeal to government through the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly (KKMA) to fix the deplorable road in the area.
The Managing Director of TDC Tema Development Company, Mrs. Alice Nana Abena Ofori-Atta, said the project would offer hundreds of children the chance to access better education.
She expressed excitement about private companies using their corporate social responsibilities to improve education and was optimistic that the project would improve standard of living in the Kpone area.
Dickson Delali Klu, Kpone-Katamanso District Education Director, said once the project is completed, he would ensure that teachers are posted to the school to help the children.
