A scene during the commissioning
The Member of Parliament for Techiman South in the Bono East Region, Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, over the weekend handed over boreholes to some communities in his constituency for the people to have access to potable water.
The beneficiary communities included Bomene, Woraso, Atabuorso and Panhosu.
The MP during the commissioning said he was determined to help the health authorities to tackle the rate of water-borne diseases in the area.
He said the people’s right to clean water should not be undermined.
“During my campaign, one of the major challenges which caught my attention was the lack of potable water in these communities. Some even walk for miles before getting access to water,” he noted.
He said he promised to provide 17 boreholes and five have been ready for commissioning.
He said as MP, he is investing heavily in the water sector, and indicated that all the planned water projects would be made ready and commissioned in his first term for the constituency.
The MP also said the provision of fertiliser for farmers in the constituency is a priority for him.
He said for a start, the communities within the constituency are getting 20 bags of fertiliser for farming, adding that 1,200 bags of fertiliser were earmarked for distribution in the first phase of the programme.
Nana Kwaku Antwi, Chief of Atabourso, commended the MP for his efforts towards the provision of potable water which he said had been a major concern for them for many years.
He further advised Mr. Adjei-Mensah Korsah to continue to exhibit humility and assured that the people would support him due to his kind-heartedness towards the needy and deprived in society.
