Teqball Federation Gets Tables

Teqball Federation Ghana (TFG) has taken delivery of 50 teqball tables in a ceremony at the Accra Stadium.

It was the world’s teqball governing body, International Federation of Teqball (FITEQ), in collaboration with the Hungarian Embassy in Ghana that initiated the gesture.

Federation President Kofi Osei Poku pointed out that the arrival of the tables would help establish as well as popularize the spot across the country.

He said his outfit would team up with the National Sports Authority (NSA) to distribute the tables to the various regional heads.

And like other nations, he noted that the Federation had engaged past football stars like Yaw Preko, Augustine Arhinful among others as brand ambassadors.

He said, “Indeed, the arrival of the tables will go a long way to promote and develop the sport, we couldn’t have started without it. You can’t play it without the tables.”

He added, “We thank the Hungarian Embassy for helping us clear the items from the port. The sport has come to stay.”

Teqball is a ball sport that is played on a curved table, combining elements of soccer and table tennis. Back and forth, the players hit a soccer ball with any part of the body except arms and hands. Teqball can be played between two players as a singles game, or between four players as a doubles game. The game is represented at an international level by the International Federation of Teqball (FITEQ). A number of world-class footballers have been attracted by the game, and after being added to the programmes for the 2021 Asian Beach Games and the African Beach Games, the sport is now aiming for Olympic inclusion

It is a new football-based sport, which is perfectly suitable for professional footballers as well as amateur enthusiasts whose ambition is to develop.
