TV Set Kills Boy, 9

The body of the nineyear- old boy covered with cloth

RESIDENTS OF Nsuaem, a community in the Bosome Freho District of the Ashanti Region, have been hit by sorrow after it emerged that a television set had hit and killed a nine-year-old boy in the town.

The deceased (name withheld) was said to be asleep when the 32 inches television set fell heavily on his head, and ended his life in a bizarre manner on Sunday around 2am.

The parents of the boy quickly rushed him to a nearby medical facility in an attempt to save his life but unfortunately medical personnel declared the boy dead on arrival.

The remains of the boy, whose head and face was almost disfigured by the heavy television set, had been dumped at the mortuary as the police in the area have commenced investigations into the case.

An eyewitness, David Addae, said the boy’s father claimed that the television set (the old type) was placed on a table in his room whilst his son was asleep on the floor that fateful day.

According to the father, his son usually moves about whenever he sleeps and so he suspected that the boy moved and pushed the table and that resulted in the television set falling on his head.

Mr. Addae, who reports for Kumasi-based Bohye FM, told DAILY GUIDE that the fall of the television generated a deafening noise which woke up the parents of the boy only for them to witness that gory spectacle.

He said the boy’s head was damaged by the heavy television set and as a result he bled profusely.
