Prominent American award-winning actor, Louis Cameron Gossett Jr, will arrive in Ghana today on a private visit.
During his visit, the American actor is expected to hold a meeting with Ghana’s movie industry stakeholders, among others.
Ghana-based Diaspora African Forum will host a welcome reception in his honour at the Du Bois Centre in Accra tomorrow.
Louis Cameron Gossett Jr. is an American actor. He is best known for his Academy Award winning role as Gunnery Sergeant Emil Foley in the 1982 film ‘An Officer & A Gentleman’ and his role as Fiddler in the 1977 ABC television miniseries ‘Roots’.
Gossett has also starred in numerous other film productions, including ‘A Raisin In The Sun’, ‘The Landlord’, ‘Skin Game’, ‘Travels With My Aunt’, ‘The Laughing Policeman’, ‘The Deep, Jaws 3-D’, Wolfgang Petersen’s ‘Enemy Mine’, ‘The Iron Eagle’ series, ‘Toy Soldiers & The Punisher’ in an acting career that spans over five decades.
Ambassador Erika Bennett, Head of Mission of the Diaspora African Forum, said the actor has been on tremendous support to the forum.
“As a matter of fact, Louis Cameron Gossett Jr is on our board,” she added.
Reacting to his visit to Ghana, Tourism, Arts & Culture Minister, Mrs. Catherine Abelema Afeku, said, “When you have the elders in the Diaspora such as Louis, then you know the African resilient spirit is real. I do look forward to welcoming him home.”
