THE THIRD top female technology personality in the world, Robinne Burrell, will join former President Kufuor today at the Accra International Conference Centre in launching the Ghana Job Bank initiative.
Ms. Burrell arrived in the country recently on the invitation of Mr. Kufuor who is the patron of the Ghana Job Bank Project being spearheaded by leading Communications and Business Consultancy firm, EON3 Group.
As part of activities to officially launch the programme, she is expected to mentor about 3,000 Ghanaian youth on how to make a million dollar through digital marketing.
Speaking to DAILY GUIDE yesterday in Accra ahead of the launch which is under the theme:”Ghana, The Best Place to Make Your First Million Dollar and How,” Ms. Burrell, who has been at the forefront of the global technology and emerging media space for decades serving in leadership positions with top global companies like Universal Music Group, Sony Electronics, said it was possible for a young person in Ghana to earn a million dollar from digital marketing.
But for that to happen, she indicated, would require that the ways in which people think about their careers in Ghana was changed for the better.
Ms. Burrell, the first African-American female in history to be nominated in 2016 for an Emmy in Virtual Reality UXP, urged the youth in Ghana to think about the “broader opportunity to help improve the world both economically, environmentally and socially.”
She said the technology age provided a lot more opportunity for young Ghanaians to make a million dollar or more but require them to “think big” and look beyond their “narrow environment” and rather look at forming not just a national network but global network.
Commenting on the purpose of a her trip to Ghana, the first of its kind in her life, Ms. Burrell, who is said to be currently developing a sustainable program for youth in South Africa with Ndaba Mandela and his organization, Africa Rising, said: “I am here in Accra this week not only to represent the future of youth leading entrepreneurship but also to help guide them along their path.”
According to her, “I was invited by His Excellency Former President John Kufuor and together with the consortia, I hope to be a major part of helping a lot of the entrepreneurs and even the occasional workers to figure out their place and carve out a successful career.”
She added that “It’s very important for me because I myself have been able to rise in the race through mentorship, the people who took time to coach me, to put me in the right direction, to help me get the right education and to help lead me to the right opportunities and even when I was placed in those positions, I still needed that same coaching and mentorship to keep going and to grow and to not lose the job but to continue to rise in my career.”
