US Restores Full Validity Periods For Ghanaian Visas

US President Donald Trump

The United States Embassy in Accra has announced the restoration of maximum validity periods for all categories of nonimmigrant visas for Ghanaians, a move expected to ease travel arrangements and strengthen people-to-people ties between the two countries.

In a statement released yesterday, the Embassy said the decision reinstates the previous durations that had been shortened in recent years.

Under the revised arrangements, the maximum validity for the B1/B2 visitor visa has been returned to five years with multiple entry, while the F1 student visa now carries a four-year multiple entry validity.

“The maximum validity allowed for the B1/B2 visitor visa is again five years, multiple entry. The maximum validity for the F1 student visa is again four years, multiple entry,” the Embassy stated.

The restoration is expected to benefit thousands of Ghanaian travelers, particularly students pursuing academic opportunities in the United States and business professionals engaged in frequent travel.

The U.S. and Ghana have long enjoyed strong diplomatic relations, and visa facilitation has been a key part of encouraging educational, cultural, and economic exchanges.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that visa issuance remains subject to the usual application and approval processes, including interviews, background checks, and security screening.

This policy shift comes at a time of growing demand for travel between Ghana and the United States, with many Ghanaians seeking opportunities in American universities, business partnerships, and family visits.
