Valerie Lawson, a renowned Ghanaian make-up artist, leads her colleagues in the beauty industry with four nominations at the 2019 edition of Ghana Make-Up Awards (GMAs)
Make-Up Ghana, the organisers of the award ceremony, announced nominations for the third edition of the award on Monday.
Aimed at honouring excellence in the make-up and beauty industry, the 2019 GMAs will come off May 11 at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.
Nominations were announced on Monday across 19 categories for make-up artists, businesses, content creators and industry affiliates.
Valerie, who is known for the brand name Mzl4wson, also owns CVL Beauty. She won the make-up artist of the year in 2017 and best bridal make-up artist of the year in 2018.
This year, she has been nominated for the best make-up artist of the year, best celebrity make-up artist and best bridal make-up artist of the year while her CVL Beauty Tools & Accessories Beauty Box has also been nominated for product of the year category.
Among the make-up stakeholders who have picked nominations are SO Aesthetic, who picked three nominations in the categories of make-up brand of the year, product of the year and Ghanaian-owned brand of the year.
Among entertainment figures who got nominated for their make-up are Nana Ama McBrown, Zynnell Zuh, Selly Galley and Joselyn Dumas. They have been nominated for most glamorous celebrity of the year.
Other nominees are Kaeme Shea Butter Cream, Skin Gourmet Clay Mask, R&R Serenity Shea Oil and Hamamat Golden Shea Butter, who are all up for skincare product of the year category.
The 2019 Ghana Make-Up Award is being organised by Make-Up Ghana, and it is aimed at honouring and promoting excellence in Ghana’s make-up artistry industry.
Earlier this year, 71 nominees were shortlisted from 137 nominations across all the categories. They include nominees and winners from the previous editions and new faces who have entered to compete for the top spot in their respective categories.
