Velma Owusu-Bempah
Ghanaian milliner Velma Owusu-Bempah is expected to bring some attention on Ghana as she showcases her works at the 2020 London Hat Week Exhibition.
It is the third time she has been selected for the international event which brings together top designers from all over the world, and there are high hopes she would make Ghana proud.
The London Hat Week has been described a collection of hat-related events run by individuals and organisations across London, celebrating the art of hats in a city that is home to some of the most talented hat designers in the world.
This year’s event would take place from April 16 to 22 at different venues in the UK.
“There’s a popular saying that three times is a charm and it goes to prove that our work continues to charm both local and international audience. As the first Ghanaian to be selected for this exhibition, it has always been exciting representing Ghana in London. It’s a way to bring the spotlight to Ghana and our fashion industry. This year promises to be bigger and better as we are attending the press event in March and exhibition in April,” she told NEWS-ONE on Wednesday.
“In the wise words of an iconic woman, ‘we know every great dream begins with a dreamer’, all you need is passion, patience and humility. A big thank you to London Hat Week and Xterrace Fashion platform and all the beautiful people who continue to believe in this Ghanaian dream with global potential. 2020 is really the year of exploits and we can’t wait for you to see our piece in London,” she also said in an Instagram post.
