Voters Registration Starts Today

The Electoral Commission has announced that the 2023 Voters Registration Exercise will begin today Tuesday September 12, 2023, and will continue until Monday, October 2, 2023.

The registration process will take place at all 268 District Offices of the Electoral Commission.

This registration exercise is open to individuals who have turned 18 years old since the last registration exercise in 2020 and those who, for various reasons, were unable to register during that period.

To successfully register, interested individuals are required to visit the District Office where they reside and present either their Ghana Card or Ghana Passport as identification.

For eligible applicants who do not possess any of the aforementioned identification documents, they must bring two persons who are already registered voters to guarantee their registration.

It is crucial for the public to be aware that attempting to register as a non-Ghanaian or as a minor below the age of 18 is considered a criminal offense. Offenders, as well as those who guarantee their registration, will be held liable and prosecuted accordingly. Furthermore, guarantors who exceed the legally mandated number of ten persons will also face prosecution.

The Electoral Commission strongly encourages all eligible applicants to register and participate in the upcoming District Level Elections.

They emphasize the importance of individual votes and urge the general public to support the 2023 Voters Registration Exercise.

In conclusion, Michael Boadu, Acting Head of Public Affairs at the Electoral Commission who signed statement, urges all eligible individuals to exercise their rights by registering and voting.

He emphasizes that their vote is essential for shaping their future.
