West Hill School Holds Graduation

West Hill School, a leading private basic institution located at Dinkornaa near Bortianor within the Ga South Municipal Assembly, has held its fourth graduation ceremony for 25 pupils.

The event which was held under the theme: ā€˜investing in the education of our children, the role of parentsā€™, was characterised by poetry recitals, drama and traditional drumming and dancing

Addressing a huge audience made up of parents and friends of the school, Very Rev Nana Alfred Apau-Gyekye, Resident Minister, St Mark Methodist Church, Darkuman, called on parents not to give up on the education of their children on reasons of challenging times.

ā€œParents have a unique role to play by providing children with basic needs such as food, shelter, affection, clothing, healthy environment and a sound moral upbringing,ā€ he stated

Very Rev Apau-Gyekye further stated that true education must lead towards transforming of the individual mentally, emotionally, morally, physically, among other experiences, such that it links the individual to his society and larger community.

The DVLA District Manager for Sefwi Wiaso, Amos Abakah, who was also the chairman for the event, explained that education is a basic human right and an investment which has far-fetching returns to the individual, family and society at large.

He stated that better education has been shown to be associated with lower disease burden, improved individual level of productivity and a boost to incomes.

ā€œEducation facilitates the capacity to absorb and develop new technologies and where people are more skilled, adoption of new technologies becomes easier,ā€ he stated.

The Director of West Hill School, Samuel Adotey Allotey, indicated that the school whose motto is ā€˜Enjoy, Explore Excelā€™ was started with five pupils in 2013.

He expressed his excitement with how the school continues to live by its slogan and provides excellent tuition to its products.

Mr Adotey Allotey appealed to parents to pay their fees and honour other commitments in order to keep the school running.
