‘WR NPP Needs Effective Leadership’

Charles Cobbinah

Charles Cobbinah, an aspiring Western Regional Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) says he is optimistic that the NPP will win a landslide victory in the region come the next general elections.

He said, this will facilitate a smooth victory for the party at the national level to break the ‘eight-year jinx’.

Speaking to DAILY GUIDE, Mr. Cobbinah, also known as “Kempes”, called for an effective change in the leadership of the party in the region to help recapture the party’s lost seats in the 2024 parliamentary elections.

He said, that is the only way to reposition the region firmly as the stronghold of the NPP and regain its massive electoral votes which had always been the pivot of the party’s victories in elections.

The NPP had 14 out of the current 17 parliamentary seats in the Western Region prior to the 2020 elections. But the party lost five seats to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the last general elections.

Mr. Cobbinah said certain crucial factors that accounted for the loss of many of the region’s controlled parliamentary seats have been identified.

He noted, “We need effective leadership to achieve the feat. The NPP has done it before and will do it again in 2024.”

Mr. Cobbinah said, “We in the region are poised to work hard to recapture all our lost seats in the next general elections including Prestea Huni Valley, Jomoro and Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira.”

He, therefore, appealed to the delegates to give him the nod as the Regional Secretary in order for him to use his best modules and strategies to help the party achieve its goal.

“I am a unifier who has resolved most conflicts that emerged from the recent polling station elections to restore peace, unity, cohesion and harmony among members and supporters,” he stated.

He urged the rank and file of the NPP to stay united before, during, and after the party’s upcoming constituency and regional elections.

He also advised aspirants to be mindful of their utterances that could divide the party.
