Yendi MP Cuts Sod for Asphalting of Inner Roads Project

 

Member of Parliament for the Yendi Constituency, Farouk Aliu Mahama, has cut sod for the asphalting of 7.5km of inner roads in the Yendi municipality of the Northern region.

The two contractors namely Andrade Gutierrez and Odebrecht Engenharia e Construcao who are in charge of the project are expected to construct four inner roads in the city of Yendi to improve the quality of existing rods, facilitate mobility within and between different communities and facilities trade and services.

The 7.5km road construction will comprise each road with two lanes, one on each side of the Centre line with a width of 2.75km to 3.5m, The pavement of the four roads will consist of the sub-base layer with 25cm, a base layer with 15cm and bituminous concrete layer with 5cm as well as drainage included where necessary with the construction of U-drain type drainage and Trapezoidal type drainage.

The contractors are expected to start work on-site in October 2023 and complete the project on March 31, 2024.

The Member of Parliament for the Yendi Constituency, Farouk Aliu Mahama, at the sod-cutting ceremony of the asphalting of 7.5km of inner roads in the Yendi municipality, noted that he is not only representing the voice of my constituents but also advocating for the progress and development of my Constituency.

According to him, the 7.5 km inner city roads will provide easy access to the town center for essential services for the good people of Yendi and also provide employment opportunities for the youth of Yendi.

He again indicated that the inner city roads project will improve the lives of the people of Yendi bridging the gap between urban and rural areas, and ensuring that no community is left behind adding that it will create a more inclusive and equitable society, where every constituent has equal access to opportunities and services.

The Yendi MP urged the contractors to ensure that the project is completed on schedule for the betterment of Yendi and Dagbon as a whole.

The King of Dagbon, Ndan Ya Naa Abukari II, said Yendi as the traditional capital of the Dagbon Kingdom has witnessed many development projects from the NPP government in the areas of education, health, agriculture, roads, transportation, commerce, peace and security, sports among others.

“ The outstanding achievements of the NPP government in Dagbon and Ghana in general cannot be overemphasized. I must say that the peace you helped build in this great kingdom is a major factor in the revival of the various sectors of the economy of the area. Yendi is now a very attractive place for investors and tourists”.

The Ya Naa encouraged the government to bring more such impactful projects that meet the desires and expectations of the good people of Yendi and Dagbon as a whole.

According to the King of Dagbon, the Yendi inner roads asphalting project championed by the hardworking Member of Parliament, Farouk Mahama will not only contribute immensely towards the productivity of the area but will also continue to make Yendi an alternative place to live for foreigners and non-citizens in the country.
