An Accra High Court is to determine on February 24, whether the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Sedinam Tamakloe Attionu, should be tried in absentia or not.
Already, the presiding judge Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe has declared that the former MASLOC boss has absconded after continuously absenting herself from court.
Madam Tamakloe Attionu is on trial with Daniel Axim who is a former Operations Manager of MASLOC on 78 counts of willfully causing financial loss to the state, stealing, and contravention of the public procurement act, among other charges.
They have both pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The former MASLOC boss was admitted to bail in the sum of GHC5million but has since October 2021 failed to appear in court for the trial to progress following approval by the court to travel out of the country for a medical check-up.
The court has already forfeited her bail bond to the state and ordered her two sureties, a former CEO of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, Alex Mould, and an actor, Gavivina Tamakloe, to pay the GHC5 million.
A medical report submitted by counsel for Madam Tamakloe Attionu indicates that she will require about six to nine months more for her medical treatment.
According to the medical report, she has been diagnosed with an eye problem and requires treatment.
