From lef: Affail Monney, Kwame Blay, Fortune Alimi and A.R. Gomda display the awards after the presentation
The Western Group, publishers of Daily Guide and owners of Guide Radio and Guide TV, yesterday attracted glowing tributes for their performance on the media landscape in the country from Affail Monney, President of the Ghana Journalists’ Association.
He was speaking when he presented awards to the CEO of the Western Group, Mr. Kwame Blay, on behalf of the organisers of the Business Awards, Globe Productions.
Daily Guide, he observed, is a formidable newspaper on the media landscape playing a role in setting agenda in the country, adding “everybody reads Daily Guide.”
“The paper has the propensity to take on everybody and the knack to fetch stories,” he said.
He acknowledged the integration of the Western Group which now operates a television, radio and the newspaper, the first of its kind in the country.
Still extolling the Daily Guide, Mr. Monney paid tributes to the professionals within its fold who according to him have taken it to the levels it is today.
“When the media excels we take the shine at the GJA,” he said.
The CEO won the ‘Promising CEO of the Year’ category in the recently organised awards but which presentation was only done yesterday.
Mr. Blay also received for the Western Group, the ‘Most Promising Group of the Year’ award.
In responding to the kind words and the awards, the recipient expressed gratitude to the GJA President and the organisers for the recognition.
The Western Group, the group he leads as CEO, he promised, will not rest on its oars but will aim at greater heights in the coming years.
He recognised the supportive roles of the Group’s managers, William Yaw Owusu, Fortune Alimi and A.R. Gomda.
Earlier, Mr. Monney was taken round the various departments of the Western Group including the full colour modern press being assembled within the premises.
