Officials at the launch on the starting line to signify official launch of the race
The 2022 edition of the prestigious Millennium Marathon has been launched in style in Accra.
According to organisers of the race, Millennium Marathon Sports Limited, the main event is scheduled for September 3 in Accra, with fantastic prizes at stake for the winners in both male and female categories.
A mouthwatering cash prize of GH¢15,000 is at stake as first prize, while GH¢8,000 and GH¢5,000 have been pegged for second and third places, respectively.
Millennium Marathon Sports Limited top executive, Mrs. Catherine Morton, urged all lovers of long distance running to take part in the marathon.
This year’s event has attracted sponsors like GNPC, GCB, IPMC, Goil, Interplast, Papaye, Japan Motors, DDP, Garmain, Verna Mineral Water, Zonda Tec., KRIF, B5Plus, Blue Skies, Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel and others.
Mrs. Catherine Morton, who is also the Race Director, said the event, which started in 2015, was to promote tourism and business as well as healthy living. She noted that three events in Accra, Kumasi and Tamale will herald the main Millennium Marathon.
