Pat Thomas
An array of artistes, including Kojo Antwi, Gyedu Blay Ambolley and Kwabena Kwabena, are expected to perform at a concert slated for August 4 to celebrate the legendary highlife musician Pat Thomas.
Organisers say that proceeds from the concert will be channeled into building a music school in honour of Pat Thomas in his hometown, Agona, in the Ashanti Region.
In an interview on Asaase Breakfast Show, Peter Adu-Adjei, the manager of Pat Thomas, said the concert dubbed ‘Pat Thomas Highlife Night’ will celebrate the highlife legend.
“There is a need to celebrate a legend like him; that is why we are coming up with this project. It is happening on August 4 at the Accra International Conference Centre,” Adu-Adjei said.
“The concert will feature artistes such as Kojo Antwi, Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, Kwabena Kwabena, Oheneba Kissi, Okyeame Kwame, K K Fosu and a host of other artistes.
“Uncle Pat’s first album was released about 48 years ago, and we as a team decided to celebrate him: we don’t want to wait. And in August he is celebrating his birthday as well, so it’s all celebration,” he said.
Pat Thomas will turn 77 on August 14.
