Media practitioners, especially radio presenters, have been cautioned against spewing vulgar language on air, as well as using their medium to create unnecessary tension in the society.
President of the Akan Newscasters Union (ANU) in Kumasi, Asabre Paul Pinamang, aka Oduefuor Nana Asabre Pinamang, who issued the warning, called for decency in the media landscape.
He said media practitioners are key components to national development and the promotion of proper democratic rule, therefore, they should always act professionally to earn the respect and support of the public.
Paul Pinamang, who has been practising as a broadcast journalist for the past 16 years and has won several awards, urged his colleagues to always uphold the ethics of journalism in their day-to-day activities.
Speaking in an interview with the BEATWAVES in Kumasi, the employee of Otec FM in Kumasi charged journalists to dedicate their time to championing national unity and developmental issues.
According to him, negative reportage, especially journalism that promotes tribalism, disunity, foul language and hatred, would not help the proper development of the country.
Paul Pinamang has worked tirelessly to climb high the academic ladder as he holds Diploma in Journalism and Master of Philosophy in Construction Technology.
His extraordinary exploits in the media landscape over the years has also been recognised. He is three times Ashanti regional best newscaster and 2018 NUGS best student journalist.
Paul Pinamang started his media work with Success FM at Goaso, where he excelled before moving to Hello/Peace FM, Angel FM and Bohye FM, where he was the general manager. He now works with Otec FM.
