The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Arklifestyle Foundation, a subsidiary of Arklifestyle Lounge, Estherlynne Osei-Bonsu, has saluted all older citizens in Ghana, especially as today, October 1, 2020 marks International Day for Older Persons.
She called on the society to take issues of the elderly seriously and put in measures to address problems confronting them, especially in this era of Covid-19.
Mrs. Osei-Bonsu disclosed that the Covid-19 pandemic was causing untold anxiety and suffering for older people across the world and efforts must be made to protect them and not overlook their needs.
She said as older people were being challenged by the need to spend more time at home, “it is our small contribution as Arklifestyle Foundation to impact, drive change and champion the cause of providing safety for them.”
Among adults, the risk for severe illness from Covid-19 increases with age, with older adults at the highest risk. Severe illness means that the person with Covid-19 may require hospitalisation, intensive care, or government importing more ventilators to help them breathe—or they may even die.
