Collins Dauda

The Member of Parliament for Asutifi South in the Ahafo region, Collins Dauda, has been granted bail after his arrest for alleged involvement in some disturbances at a registration center on Saturday, May 11, 2024.

Mr. Dauda, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), was detained in connection with a recent disturbance during the limited voter registration exercise in Kukuom, Ahafo Region. The incident resulted in one individual being injured and subsequently hospitalized.

The National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, stated that Dauda was immediately granted bail and insisted that the MP committed no crime. Gyamfi explained that Dauda was not present at the scene, as he was busy in his constituency monitoring the registration process.

Reaction

Gyamfi condemned the arrest and urged the police to focus their efforts on apprehending the true perpetrators of the disturbance.

He alleged that the NPP hoodlums and bandits, led by a known NPP member called Anointing, were responsible for the chaos at the voting center.

Conclusion

The release of Collins Dauda on bail has sparked a debate, with the NDC calling for the police to concentrate on arresting the individuals they believe to be the real culprits behind the disturbances at the registration center.
