Former captain of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan, has stated that the degree of help offered to Ghanaian musicians is insufficient to take the country’s music industry to new heights.
Asamoah Gyan, who is also a singer and known in the music scene as Baby Jet, thinks that financial backing for the music business would enable it to compete in the international music market.
He proceeded by noting that industry participants need Ghanaians’ support if Ghanaian music is to compete with other expanding music marketplaces on the continent.
According to Asamoah Gyan, Ghana can create a lot of talents that can be cultivated to compete on the global music scene. He asked Ghanaians to support the musicians who have what it takes to compete with those in the worldwide music industry with kindness.
Speaking at YLeaderboardSeries on Y107.9FM‘s mid-morning radio show with Rev. Erskine, Baby Jet mentioned that the ongoing encouragement from fans and listeners drives musicians to aspire high and pursue bigger platforms.
In a flash of insight, Asamoah Gyan noted that music streaming measurements reveal international musicians as the top performers in Ghana’s audience ratings.
He presented this as a clear instance of Ghanaians’ lack of support for the music sector.
“With today’s technology, listening to music is as simple as taking your phone with you. Additionally, they ask us to listen to our artists’ music, but we don’t even do that.
