The GNPC Ghana’s Fastest Human (GFH) 2019 winner, Latifa Ali, has secured a US Athletics Scholarship to Coppin State University.
Last year, she beat all to be crowned GNPC Ghana’s Fastest Human in the ladies’ category. She was the fastest U-18 in 2014 and 2015, then she rose up through the ranks till she grabbed the ultimate prize in 2019.
Currently, she is the reigning Ghana University Students Association (GUSA) 200m champion and has proven to be multi-talented, having excelled in long jump, pole vault which qualifies her for the heptathlon, a discipline that comprises six events.
The scholarship was engineered by Ghanaian athletes Joseph Paul Amoah (100m & 200m), Joseph Oduro Manu (100m & 200m) and Opuni Abayie Kwame (400m), also at Coppin State.
Before seeing off the athlete at the Kotoka International Airport, the founder of Ghana Fastest Human, Reks Bobby, said, “We thank the athletes for their assistance. We wish Latifa well and looking forward to better her results.”
The athlete was also part of the 2019/2020 GNPC Speedsters Club, all supported by GNPC.
Joseph Paul Amoah is the 2016 GNPC Ghana’s Fastest Human and part of the gold medal winning 4×100 relay team.
The GNPC GFH is an initiative targeted at reviving athletics in schools.
