The Baba Yara Stadium will be the venue for the Kumasi meet of the Ghana’s Fastest Human race, Reks Brooby, founder of the project has announced.
The Kumasi short distance event will attract athletes (male and female) in U-15, 18, seniors and 18 and above from the Ashanti, Brong Ahafo and Volta regions.
He said ahead of Saturday’s race, “We are ready, Kumasi is ready for the showpiece, we are only praying for a good weather, all is set, that’s all I can say for now.”
At stake for athletes who will stand tall in the event are medals, trophies and goodies from sponsors.
They will be on standby for the national meet later in the year.
The ten-year project aimed at reviving short distance running in schools is being sponsored by GNPC in partnership with Adidas, Moringa King, Global Media Alliance, Sports Equity Lab, Kriate Lync, Wrenco Printing, and Pipas Gym.
