The state television station, GTV, will from today commence televising live draws of the National Lottery Authority’s (NLA) 5/90 after a 20-year lull.
The decision was informed by the need to enhance integrity and credibility of the NLA.
The live draws for the 5/90 lotto products will take place from Monday to Saturday 6:45pm and 7:00pm.
There will, however, be no draws on Saturdays and public holidays.
The live draws have been designed to eradicate the activities of illegal lottery operators, scammers and fraudsters, according to a statement signed by the NLA Public Relations Unit.
It will also demystify the perceptions about the lottery industry and restore lasting confidence to stakeholders in the industry and draw more revenues to the national kitty.
The live draws had the potential to educate the public about the draw processes and procedures at the NLA, something many did not know, the statement said.
According to the NLA, besides maintaining and strengthening transparency of the operations of the authority, the live draws will increase sales and revenue generation for government and the consolidated fund for national development.
