Kweikuma Cultural Group Set To Hold Cultural Music Charity Concert

 

Kweikuma Cultural Group is gearing up to host the maiden edition of a musical event dubbed ‘Celebrating Ghanaian Music & Culture” in Accra to raise funds to support the needy but brilliant students in some selected basic schools in the Accra metropolis.

The concert which will take place in Accra soon will feature seasoned and award-winning cultural music groups as well as guest artiste from some of the well known groups.

Venue and date for the event according to the group will be announced soon.

Led by John Yartry, the group which is credited with a number of awards will use the concert to also express its appreciation to fans on its recent feat.

The members of the group which include Priscilla Essiamah and Dominic Adu, Muniru Ishack, Emmanuel Adu Bonsra, among others, stressed that traditional cultural music and dance was not only to entertain, but also to educate, inform and encouraged people to work in their communities for national development.

It noted that traditional music and dance had advantage over foreign music and culture because they were readily available and could be performed at any function.

He however, condemned the use of foreign songs and dances to perform choreography in schools, describing the practice as “un Ghanaian”.
