Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, has paid a morale-boosting visit to defender Abdul Mumin in Spain as the centre-back continues his recovery from a thigh injury.
The 26-year-old, who plies his trade with Rayo Vallecano in La Liga, suffered the injury during his side’s 1-1 draw with Sevilla on March 31, 2024, and has been sidelined ever since.
Addo’s visit comes at a crucial time as the Black Stars prepare to regroup in London later this month for a four-nation friendly tournament involving Trinidad & Tobago, Nigeria, and Jamaica.
The matches, scheduled for May 28 and June 31, 2025, will be played in the UK and serve as vital preparation for Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September.
While Mumin has already missed Ghana’s recent World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar, his absence will continue through the UK friendlies.
However, the technical team remains in close contact, closely monitoring his rehabilitation progress.
During the visit, Mumin expressed appreciation for the gesture and shared updates on his recovery process with the national team boss. The defender, who has earned nine caps for the senior national team, remains hopeful of returning to full fitness in time for the crucial World Cup qualification matches later this year.
