Many patrons of Akan movie industry, popularly known as Kumawood seem to have lots of complaints about the many insults that characterise their favourite movies.
Actor Azigi, who is also not happy about increasing rate of insults in the local movies, urged Kumawood producers to not encourage the use of insults on the local movies.
“I understand that we aim to amuse our viewers, but I have watched Kumawood films that lacked insults and had very clear messages. We can throw in the occasional insult, but certain movies have too many of them, and that’s not good for our kids, he said.
Numerous industry participants routinely express their sincere concerns about the state of the Ghanaian film industry, which is rapidly declining.
While some of them, such actor Prince David, are optimistic about the sector’s growth, others, like Beverly, are more certain the business is dead and has no chance of surviving.
Azigi thinks that with the correct funding and backing from the government, the Ghanaian film industry will certainly come back to life.
Therefore, he pleaded with the government to provide financial support to the film sector to ensure that it recovered. He also begged TV stations to work with producers to air more local material.
I don’t want to concur with people who assert that the film business is in decline. Although there are certain difficulties, the industry is not doomed.
“The players must work together to advance the industry’s welfare. The important actors shouldn’t be negative about the industry because it has a lot of opportunities, he said.
