STU Steps Up Covid-19 Protocols On Campus

FOLLOWING a surge in Coronavirus (Covid-19) infections and its attendant deaths in the country, the management of Sunyani Technical University (STU) has stepped up measures to prevent infection on campus.

As such, the university’s Covid-19 taskforce has been tasked to ensure strict compliance with the measures put in place to make the university safe for academic work.

Public relation officer of the university, Dickson Kyere-Duah, in a news release, said the decision was taken at a management meeting held on February 1, 2021, where faculty members were directed to employ both in person and virtual learning tools to engage their students to minimize human contacts as much as possible.

“With face to face engagement, the lecturers are tasked to divide large classes into small groups/sessions to avoid large crowding,” the statement said.

In furtherance to that, other supporting staffs such as administration, library and others henceforth shall operate a shift system, it added.

Also, the university had banned all social gatherings and sporting activities on campus except religious activities which should be held under strict Covid-19 safety protocols and should be closely monitored by the university taskforce and chaplain, it said.

The statement asked students and staff to strictly abide by the mandatory wearing of nose masks at all times on campus to avoid sanctions.
