Charlotte Osei
Sacked Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Charlotte Osei, has been appointed by the United Nations (UN) as one of the International Election Commissioners to Afghanistan.
The Asian nation, which has been at war for decades, is preparing to hold its presidential elections in September 2019.
According to reports, her appointment was confirmed by a presidential decree issued by the President of Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani.
She is expected to join a team of UN-appointed election experts from across the world.
They are expected to provide technical support, capacity building and advice on best electoral practices to the Election Complaints Commission and Independent Electoral Commission in Afghanistan.
Mrs. Osei and her two deputies, Amadu Sulley and Georgina Opoku Amankwaa, were sacked by President Akufo-Addo on the recommendations of the judicial committee that was set up to investigate allegations of corruption and misconduct levelled against them.
