Uncle Ato Cries Over Piracy

Gospel artiste Uncle Ato has called on Ghanaian musicians, music producers and distributors not to spare anybody caught pirating musical works on the market.

The ace musician revealed that piracy continues to afflict the music industry in Ghana.

However, not much success has been chalked as far as tackling the menace is concerned. It has prevented several talented musicians from releasing their album.

According to Uncle Ato, it is high time all musicians and key stakeholders in the industry unanimously declared war on piracy to save the industry from collapse.

He continued that the proliferation of modern technology was somehow hampering the efforts of stakeholders in the music industry to combat piracy.

Speaking in an interview with Otec FM, Uncle Ato said, “The time to win the fight against piracy is now.”

He pointed out that IT experts in the industry must also be brought into the discussions, so that a device could be used to ensure musical albums are not downloaded, adding that this could be achieved through the codification of the CDs with security features.

The musician also personally commended DJs in the country for their support in his career as a musician, stating that his music works were played on air freely.

Uncle Ato urged his fellow musicians to produce good music since DJs are always ready to plays good music without demanding money.
