Appiah (3rd L) presenting one of the items to Maraby
Former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah, has supported the senior national soccer side with cases of bottled water ahead of the AFCON tie against Sudan tomorrow.
Appiah, brand ambassador of X Natural Mineral Water, yesterday donated 400 cases of bottled water to the Black Stars at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) secretariat.
The former Fenerbahce man pointed out that he was hopeful that the gesture would come as a boost to the team’s success when they host their Sudanese counterparts in Cape Coast.
To the former Black Stars technical team member, water is a key component during preparations ahead of national team assignments.
He said after the presentation, “This is a special day for me because I am a former footballer who played for the national team and I know how essential water is during a national training camp.”
He added, “When we train, we use water; at dining we use water; that is why I am here as brand ambassador and on behalf of X Natural Mineral Water to donate 400 packs of water. I also wish the team all the best in Thursday’s match and we will be here to support them.”
GFA Head of Marketing, Jamil Maraby, expressed gratitude to X Mineral Water and commended Appiah for the gesture.
He said, “We thank X Mineral Water and the former national team captain, the legend Stephen Appiah, and for us it is very significant that he himself is giving it to his players, and like he said, water is very important to the team and hopefully, we will make them proud by winning the three points.”
