A DETAILED document requesting for Youth Employment Agency (YEA) personnel to be considered first during recruitment into the security services will be sent to cabinet for its approval, very soon.

The Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Ignatius Baffuor Awuah, who made the announcement, said these YEA staffs, having worked with the security agencies for two years, have gained enough experience to be recruited.

He also argued that the YEA personnel could be easily trained to join the police, prisons and other security services when given the opportunity, hence his call for the YEA staff to be considered first during recruitment.

“I’m making an appeal to security services, please let’s not waste the YEA staff that has worked with you for two years”, he appealed during the launching of the YEA Beneficiaries Forum, held in Kumasi.

Mr. Baffuor Awuah added, “I shall send a document to cabinet for us to consider the possibility of YEA beneficiaries to be considered first during the recruitment of personnel into the security agencies since they have already been trained”.

He lauded the NPP government for its vision of introducing YEA, which he said offers employment to a minimum of 100,000 beneficiaries annually, adding that YEA was playing important roles to tackle unemployment.

Mr. Baffuor Awuah said indeed President Akufo-Addo-led government is solving unemployment rate in the country, praising the leadership of YEA for introducing artisanal modules to provide employment for their beneficiaries.

President Nana Akufo-Addo said plans by the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations to send a document, regarding giving priority to YEA staffs during recruitment into the security services, was in the right direction.

He said cabinet would take a positive decision on the document when it eventually appears before them (cabinet), stating that indeed YEA is working assiduously to help reduce unemployment in the country.

President Akufo-Addo lauded the leadership of YEA for their tireless efforts to create jobs for the youth in the country, urging the youth to get involved by campaigning for the NPP to retain power and continue with its good works.
