Music groups have added their weight in solidifying the artistic characteristics of the Ghana music industry and they spread across all genres of our music landscape. In as much as most groups appear organized and display skillful performances, many are hit with challenges. These challenges, when not managed or mitigated well often times leads to divisions, with some members leaving to form their own groups, while others just collapse and disappear into thin air. Yes, thin air like they never existed.
One group known to deliver stellar cultural performance is Adanse cultural troupe. Since its conception, the group has played the length and breath of Ghana with talented musicians and singers. Unfortunately, what started as a little smoke became a huge fire that led to the collapse of the group. But speaking to Alex Adu, leader of the group, he assured that the group will bounce back with new members. He explained that their sound and performance which they are known for, will not change, “there might be new face, but our sound will remain the same” he assured.
Would we see Adamse cultural troupe on stage again like Alex Adu promised? Like it goes without saying “time will tell.”
