Vice President, Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang has charged African leaders to deal with its fragmented markets which is a barrier to achieving a single market.
The Vice-President made the call when he addressed participants at the Africa Prosperity Dialogues 2025 in Accra.
According to her, although the continent could boast of a population of 1.4 billion people and a combined GDP of 3.4 trillion, a significant part of the continent’s potential will remain unfulfilled if the markets continue to be divided.
She said through integration and breaking barriers, leaders will provide opportunities, especially by creating employment for the youth while lifting them from poverty.
She also commended organisers of the Africa Prosperity Dialogues for providing the platform to enable leaders from the continent to share diverse views aimed at finding sustainable solutions to the numerous challenges facing the continent.
The third edition of the Dialogues which started on Thursday, January 30, and ends on Saturday February 1, 2025 is being held under the theme, “Delivering Africa’s Single Market through Infrastructure: Invest, Connect, Integrate”.
