NPP Aspirants Sign Bond

Presidential aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), yesterday signed an undertaken to commit themselves to accept the results of the upcoming presidential primary on Saturday, November 4.

They are also, by the bond, not allowed to resign as members of the party after declaration of the results.

General Secretary of the party, Justin Kodua Frimpong who addressed journalists in Accra yesterday, said “the undertaken by the aspirants will enable them accept the election results, promote peace and cohesion after the elections, to support the winner of the primary and ensure and enforce mechanism that has been established by the party.”

According to Mr. Frimpong, the meeting which was highly successfully also “afforded the aspirants and key stakeholders to discuss and resolve all issues if there were any, ahead of the elections as a family that is united irrespective of contest, tensions, and challenges associated with internal elections.”

Chairman of the NPP, Stephen Ayesu Ntim, for his part, said the party was determined to win a third term as the development of the country depends on the NPP’s victory in the 2024 elections, which in his view begins on Saturday.

According to him, such feat requires members of the party to be disciplined, ensure internal peace and cohesion and be responsive to the party’s mandate in order to not experience what happened in 2008 when the party needed few votes to win the presidential election in the first round.

He, therefore, urged members of the party to be united after the announcement of the results, guarding against misconduct, actions and inactions likely to take the party on the path of apathy, while acknowledging impressive track record of the party in the past seven years.
